Course Overview!

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Teachers of English Learners at California State University, Los Angeles is designed to enhance the professional skills of educators working with English Language Learners (ELLs) at various educational levels. The program focuses on providing advanced training in English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) pedagogy. The curriculum covers key theoretical frameworks of second language acquisition, effective instructional methodologies for diverse learners, and strategies for teaching English for academic purposes (EAP). Course Structure

The program requires a total of 12 units. Students also choose one elective course from Pedagogical Grammar for Teachers of ESL/EFL or ESL/EFL Course, Syllabus, and Materials Design. Prerequisites include successful completion of one of the following courses: Linguistics in Language Education, Cognitive, Linguistic and Literacy Processes in Individuals with Special Needs, or Introduction to English Linguistics.
