Course Overview!

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Ethnic Studies Pedagogies is designed for pre-service and in-service teachers, community educators, and others interested in teaching Ethnic Studies in K-12 and community settings. The program provides a specialized curriculum focusing on four core areas: literature, history, intersectionality, and pedagogies. Course Structure

The certificate program comprises four courses (12 units), with one course required from each of the four core areas: Literature, History, Intersectionality, and Pedagogies. At least 6 units must be at the 4000 or 5000 level. The Literature courses explore diverse literary works and themes related to ethnicity and race. The History courses delve into the historical experiences and perspectives of various ethnic groups. The Intersectionality courses examine the interconnectedness of race, class, gender, and other social categories. The Pedagogies courses focus on the teaching methods and strategies specific to Ethnic Studies, often emphasizing decolonial or culturally relevant pedagogies.
