Course Overview!

This Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting is designed for individuals holding a bachelor's degree in a non-accounting field who aim to enter the accounting profession. The program provides a comprehensive education in accounting principles and practices, preparing graduates for entry-level accounting positions. The curriculum includes foundational accounting coursework, advanced accounting topics, and relevant business courses. Students will develop skills in financial accounting, taxation, auditing, and ethical considerations in accounting. The program also incorporates professional skills development to ensure graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the accounting profession.

Course Structure

The program requires 60 units. It consists of 33 units of required courses covering intermediate financial accounting, taxation of individuals, cost accounting, leadership and professional skills for accountants, auditing, professional accounting ethics, and case studies and research in accounting. Additionally, students must complete 3 units of either Management and Organizational Behavior or Business Responsibilities in Society. The remaining 27 units are electives: 6-18 units from a list of accounting electives (covering advanced financial accounting, corporate taxation, state and local taxation, VITA program, accounting information systems, international accounting, governmental accounting, internal auditing, forensic accounting, and security risk management and internal controls) and 9-21 units from a list of business-related electives (covering management information systems, business statistics, legal and regulatory environment of business, principles of marketing, operations management, and contemporary issues in global business). Other electives may be approved by an advisor.
