Knight-Hennessy Scholars is a fully-funded private scholarship that is offered exclusively at Stanford University. You can study any Master’s and PhD course at the Stanford University while getting up to 3 years of funding from KHS (your program may be shorter or longer than that). Each year, up to 100 applicants are selected after careful consideration to study at Stanford. This scholarship includes many benefits, such as covering full tuition fee and its associated fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses (includes room and board, books, instructional material, academic supplies, local transport, and reasonable personal expense), travel stipend (that covers an economy-class round-trip ticket for an annual visit home), along with a one-time relocation stipend, and opportunity to apply for supplemental funds for conference travel in 2nd and 3rd years of study, or for another graduate program you wish to take up at Stanford (subject to approval). The deadline for Knight-Hennessy Scholars is 8 October, 2025.

To be eligible for the Knight Hennessy Scholarship, applicants must meet specific academic, age, and residency requirements.
Admission to Stanford
Along with application to KHS, you must apply and get admission in Stanford University. You may apply in any Master's or PhD course except for Honors Cooperative Program, Master in Liberal Arts, Doctor of Science of Law, and Master of Legal Studies.
Undergraduate Degree
Applicant must have completed an ungraduate degree in 2019 or after. Applicant currently studying must have completed the degree by September 2026 to be considered eligible.

Video Statement (invitation only)
Up to 500 applicants will be invited to share a video statement on the provided broad topic. It is only for applicant to showcase themselves more than the application. The topic and length are not judged, even 30 second video is alright. Only condition is that applicant must be in the video. Invitations are sent on a rolling basis in January. You will get 5-10 days to submit the video.
The Finalist Experience Part 1: Online Interview (invitation only)
After the video submission, select finalists will be invited to an online individual interview around mid-February. The interviews lasts for 20-25 minutes and recorded. Selection committee will also include an impartial/neutral KHS community member. You will be asked to introduce yourself briefly along with behavioral questions in the interview.
The Finalist Experience Part 2: Immersion Weekend (invitation only)
Selected 180 finalists will be asked to visit Stanford University (expense provided; including airfare, on-campus meals and lodging). This year’s applicants will be invited for 6-7 March, 2026. During your visit, you will participate in group activities, including one evaluative group interview. Events have typically included the following: faculty presentations, group activities, group interview, social events, and visit with graduate program(s) (if requested by the Stanford degree program).
Receive Your Offer Letter
If your application is successful, you'll receive an offer letter from the scholarship. Review the offer carefully and accept it through our portal.
