Heinrich Böll Scholarship is a fully-funded government scholarship in Germany. Students from all disciplines can apply for full-time study at a state-recognized university and get this scholarship for Master’s or PhD. The benefits include: monthly scholarship payment of €992 for Master’s and €1400 for PhD, various individual allowances, €100 mobility allowance (for PhD candidates), and funds for limited periods if studying requires going back to home or another country. The deadline for Heinrich Böll Scholarship comes twice in one year; 1 March and 1 September. The current applications open on July 15, 2025, and close on September 1, 2025.

Secure admission in any state or state-recognized university in Germany to get accepted into the Heinrich Böll Scholarship. You can choose any subject; however, preference will be given to special target groups/fields in assessment.

Interview with Liaison Lecturer
If your application is approved for the second stage, you will be called for an interview with a liaison lecturer (digitally or on phone). They are appointed to assess the candidates on the merits set for scholarship recipients.
Second Interview with Selection Committee Members
If passed, you move to the third stage of selection where 3 to 4 member committee will take your interview to further shortlist the candidates. Selected candidates get written confirmations if they are selected after the interviews.
Receive Your Offer Letter
If your application is successful, you'll receive an offer letter from the scholarship. Review the offer carefully and accept it through our portal.
Apply for a Visa
Once you've accepted an offer and received your visa letter, start the application process. We'll provide guidance and resources to help you secure your student visa.
