Scholarship Overview!
Merit Scholarship Programme is a scholarship under Türkiye Burslari Scholarships Program. It is awarded to students who have achieved the highest scores in international exams, competed and won in International Olympiads, or have overall topped in their previous educational exams. This scholarship has been reserved for students with exceptional record only. It is given on Bachelors, Masters, and PhD level students. You also need English Proficiency Test Result (TOEFL or other equivalent results). In this scholarship, applicants will get twice the amount in monthly stipend than the other regular scholarships offered in Türkiye.

Eligibility Criteria!
To be eligible for the Turkiye Burslari Merit Scholarship, applicants must meet specific academic, age, and residency requirements.
General Weighted Average (GWA)
A minimum General Weighted Average (GWA) of 90% is required for eligibility across all levels of study—Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs
Academic Exam score for Bachelor's
For the Bachelor’s program, applicants must have a minimum SAT score of 1400 (with at least 680 in Math) for engineering departments or 1350 for other departments. Alternatively, an International Baccalaureate (IB) score of at least 33 is accepted, with at least one subject taken at the Higher Level (HL) relevant to the applied program.
Academic Exam score for Master's
For the Master’s program, applicants must score at least 80 in ALES Quantitative for engineering, or 75 for science and other departments. GRE scores of 155 for engineering or 153 for other fields are also accepted.
Academic Exam score for PhD
For the PhD program, the minimum ALES Quantitative score is 85 for engineering, and 75 for science and other departments. GRE alternatives require a score of 160 for engineering or 157 for other fields.
English Language Proficiency
TOEFL IBT 80 or IELTS 6.5 score for Bachelors and TOEFL IBT 90 or IELTS 7.0 for Masters or PhD.
International Science Olympiads
Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal holders from international olympiads recognised by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK). It includes International Mathmetical Olympiad, International Physics Olympiad, International Science Olympiad, International Olympiad in Informatics, International Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Evaluation & Selection
Applications that meet the basic requirements are checked for completeness, then evaluated based on your grades, portfolio, motivation letter, and recommendation letters.
Pre-Interview Test
Before the interview, eligible bachelor's candidates must take a quantitative assessment test consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. The test covers Mathematics, Geometry, and Logical Reasoning, and is available in English or Turkish. Its purpose is to assess the candidate’s analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Selection Interview
Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview, which may include discussions about their artistic background and aspirations.
Final Selection and Placement
Successful candidates receive a scholarship offer, including placement in a university and program aligned with their preferences and qualifications.
Visa Process
Once you’re awarded the Türkiye Scholarship, you will receive a visa support letter or guidance on how to apply for a student visa. Students must apply for a Turkish student visa at the nearest Turkish embassy or consulate using their scholarship award and university acceptance letters. If students require guidance during the visa application process, they are welcome to reach out to WWAH for assistance.
