(1960) Origins and Establishment
The Origin and Establishment of the University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus) is rooted in the strategic global expansion of the UK's UCLan, a long-standing institution with a history dating back to 1828. UCLan Cyprus officially commenced its operations in October 2012 after securing an academic license from the Cypriot government. This landmark achievement was realized through a key partnership designed to bring high-quality, internationally recognized British higher education standards to the Eastern Mediterranean region. The university was built as a modern, purpose-built campus in Pyla, Larnaka, serving as the first branch campus of a British university with dual accreditation, offering students two degrees—one Cypriot and one British.
