Course Overview!

The Master of Science in Statistics and Analytics program at Cleveland State University equips students with advanced statistical and analytical skills for various career paths in fields like education, science, technology, healthcare, government, and business. The curriculum is designed by experts and provides hands-on experience with cutting-edge software. The program features three specializations: Applied Statistics (focusing on practical applications and problem-solving), Data Analytics (integrating technical skills with communication and storytelling), and Biostatistics (concentrating on statistical methods in medicine and public health). Graduates will be prepared to handle real-world data analysis challenges, making informed decisions, effectively communicating findings, and contributing to various professional environments.

Course Structure

The MS in Statistics and Analytics program requires 30 credit hours. Students choose one of three specializations: Applied Statistics, Data Analytics, or Biostatistics. Each specialization includes required core courses covering probability, mathematical statistics, experimental design, regression models, data visualization, database management (SQL), statistical consulting, advanced statistical modeling, and machine learning. In addition to the core coursework, each specialization offers elective courses allowing students to tailor their education to their specific interests within the specialization. These electives include advanced topics such as time series analysis, categorical data analysis, statistical methods for genetic data, reliability and survival analysis, statistical methods for clinical trials (in Biostatistics), and applied statistics projects and internships.
