The Master of Education in Health Professions Education is a rigorous program designed to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as leaders in medical and health professions education. The curriculum focuses on adult learning principles and the development of expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs for health professionals. This program aims to address the growing need for well-trained and effective healthcare professionals by improving the way healthcare providers are organized and prepared. The program is intended for physicians, nurses, and other medical and health educators and is delivered in collaboration with the Lerner College of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.
The program consists of 30 credit hours. It includes core courses focusing on research in education and adult learning theories and practices. These courses serve to build a foundation for specialized work in health professions education. Students also take elective courses in health professions education focusing on learner assessment, educational technology, program evaluation, and planning programs for adult learners. The program culminates in a capstone project, which is completed in two parts, involving the development and presentation of a portfolio showcasing the student's work and contributions to the educational field in Health Professions Education.
