Cleveland State University's Master of Public Health (MPH) program is part of the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of Public Health (CEOMPH), a collaborative effort between Cleveland State University, Northeastern Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), Youngstown State University, and the University of Akron. The program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). It focuses on enhancing community health by providing graduates with the knowledge, skills, and analytical capabilities to improve the health of diverse populations. Designed for working professionals, the curriculum emphasizes community practice, research, and service at local, state, and national levels. The program's mission is to foster collaboration among participating institutions, students, and practitioners within the public health system, equipping graduates to thrive in the evolving healthcare landscape. The program prepares students to advance their careers within public health.
The MPH curriculum involves six core courses, a grant project, a capstone project, a portfolio, and an exit presentation. Core courses are delivered via live webinars on Saturdays. Electives can be chosen from a list of approved courses offered by partner universities, with an approval process for courses outside this list. Students are assigned an advisor who helps guide them in selecting electives suitable for their career goals. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required to maintain enrollment. The program leads to a 42-credit Master of Public Health degree.
