Course Overview!

The Diversity Leadership and Change Management (DLCM) graduate certificate program at Cleveland State University is designed to enhance a student's existing area of study by providing a structured foundation in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). It's suitable for professionals at all career stages and blends theoretical research with practical application. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to advance DEI principles in their respective fields. Students will explore the foundations of difference, historical societal impacts on DEI, organizational strategies for fostering DEI, and current practices that either hinder or promote DEI. The curriculum also emphasizes the development of lifelong learning, collaboration skills, leadership capabilities in DEI initiatives, and effective management of complex problems in diverse workplaces. Students will also hone their change management and leadership skills to apply to corporate, public, and non-profit settings.

Course Structure

The DLCM certificate requires completion of five courses: DIV 514 (Foundations of Diversity Management), DIV 600 (DLCM Program Integration), MGT 603 (Organizational Diagnostics), MGT 605 (Organizational Development), and UST 512 (Managing Urban Diversity). These courses cover foundations of diversity management, integration of the DLCM program, organizational assessment and development, and managing diversity in urban contexts. The program's structure is designed to provide a coherent and practical understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and their application in various organizational settings.
