Course Overview!

The Graduate Certificate in Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) at Cleveland State University is designed to prepare students for careers in accounting, finance, and corporate governance. It enhances the skills of students from various majors, particularly those in accounting, internal auditing, finance, information systems, criminal justice, and law-related fields. The program is designed to be flexible, accommodating both full-time and part-time students with evening classes offered to suit diverse schedules. The curriculum focuses on providing in-depth foundational knowledge and practical applications in these crucial areas, connecting students with local businesses and alumni networks for valuable industry experience and connections.

Course Structure

The GRC certificate requires a minimum of 12 credit hours, encompassing four core courses and six credit hours of electives. Required courses include Internal Controls and Risk Management (ACT 555) and Detecting and Preventing Organizational Frauds (ACT 565). Elective options provide students with flexibility to tailor their learning based on their interests and career aspirations. Elective courses include Information Systems Auditing (ACT 553), Accounting Analytics (ACT 575), Advanced Accounting Information Systems (ACT 588), Applied Risk Assessments (ACT 632), Professional Internship (ACT 690), and IT Governance (IST 675). Successful completion of all courses with a B grade or higher is necessary to earn the certificate.
