Course Overview!

The Digital Content Production Certificate program at Cleveland State University equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as effective communicators in the digital realm. The curriculum focuses on creating engaging websites and videos, and students develop analytical abilities to measure their impact. Applications span diverse fields like promotional communication, corporate communication, political communication, public affairs, non-profit advocacy, and journalism. The program is designed to be flexible, allowing journalism and promotional communication students to potentially double-count some courses if they choose to pursue the certificate. The program culminates in a comprehensive understanding of digital content creation and its strategic application across various sectors. Students will hone practical skills in content creation using applications like Adobe Creative Cloud.

Course Structure

The Certificate in Digital Content Production requires the completion of four courses totaling 12 credit hours. Students must fulfill prerequisites including COM 225 (Media Writing) or any university-approved WAC course with a grade of B- or better, and COM 102 (Adobe CC: Digital Content Creation in Communication). Core courses include COM 425 (Publication Design), COM 429 (Digital Publication Design and Graphics), and COM 430 (Digital Content Production). Students also select one of two options: COM 335 (Multimedia Storytelling) or COM 372 (Podcasting: Reporting with Sound).
