Course Overview!

The Bachelor of Arts in Physics program at Cleveland State University provides a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental laws governing matter and energy. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the application of physics principles to various fields. Students develop strong analytical and experimental skills, proficiency in computer technology and mathematical modeling, and the ability to conduct research and organize information. This BA in Physics offers significant elective choices, enabling students to combine it with degrees in other disciplines like chemistry, biology, mathematics, education, or engineering. Course Structure

The BA in Physics program consists of core physics courses, mathematics courses, and physics electives. Core physics courses include University Physics I and II, Introduction to Computational Physics, and Introduction to Modern Physics, plus a required physics lab. Mathematics requirements typically include Calculus I and II and other courses like Multivariable Calculus or Discrete Mathematics. Students must complete a capstone senior project. Physics electives allow students to tailor their studies toward their interests. For students pursuing teacher licensure, additional coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, and education is required along with professional education courses through the CSUteach program. There are two teacher licensure tracks: Integrated Science Licensure (physics) and Physics & Mathematics Licensure, each with its own specific course requirements.
