Course Overview!

The Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Cleveland State University is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with a strong foundation in economic theory and analytical skills. The curriculum explores the principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, delving into topics such as production technologies, wage inequality, and economic phenomena affecting society. Course Structure

The BA in Economics requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, with 37-38 hours dedicated to the major. The major's core consists of six 3-credit hour courses in Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Introduction to Econometrics, and Applied Economic Analysis. Students will also complete at least 12 credit hours in economics electives, chosen in consultation with an advisor. Additional requirements include 3-4 credit hours of statistics (from a selection of approved courses in Business, Statistics, Psychology, or Sociology) and 4 credit hours of mathematics (MTH 149 or an equivalent). The honors program adds specific math requirements and additional contracted electives.
