Course Overview!

The Bachelor of Arts in International Development and Social Change (IDSC) at Clark University is a four-year program designed to equip students with critical analytical skills and practical experience to address global challenges. The curriculum emphasizes a blend of theoretical understanding and hands-on learning, including research, internships, and fieldwork. Students explore social, political, cultural, and economic dynamics, focusing on the human and ecological dimensions of sustainability. Course Structure

The IDSC major requires completion of at least 12 courses. This includes 5 core courses, 4 courses in a chosen subfield of international development, 1 methods course, 2 skills courses, 1 internship or directed research project, and a capstone seminar. Students are encouraged to take courses from diverse programs such as Geography and the School of Management, to gain skills applicable across various sectors (nonprofit, private, government, NGO, and research). The program provides opportunities for research, both collaborative projects alongside faculty and individual research funded by the University. Hands-on learning is a crucial component, with students engaging in fieldwork, internships, and community-based projects.
