Course Overview!

The B.A. in Health, Science, and Society at Clark University offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding health challenges. Students explore the intersection of biomedical sciences, social sciences, and humanities to promote health equity. The program emphasizes practical experience through internships or research projects in various settings, including community health, clinical, and laboratory environments. The curriculum builds a strong foundation in health sciences and provides opportunities for involvement in domestic and international research and community engagement. Students develop essential skills for various careers in health, including quantitative and qualitative research methods, critical thinking, and effective communication.

Course Structure

The program includes foundational courses in health sciences, methods courses teaching research skills, and three elective courses allowing specialization. A significant part of the curriculum is a required practicum or internship in a clinical, laboratory, or community health setting, possibly abroad. The program culminates in a capstone project or Honors Studio, where students synthesize their knowledge and present their findings. Students also benefit from workshops, panel discussions with faculty, and informal gatherings with peers to expand their learning. The program is complemented by opportunities to join faculty in their research activities. Students benefit from access to resources such as the Career Connections Center and various student clubs and organizations.
