The Undergraduate Certificate in Finance is a 15-unit program designed to equip students with a background outside of finance with the necessary skills for careers in various financial sectors. The curriculum focuses on providing a foundational understanding of business finance, essential skills for finance professionals, and investment principles. Students can further specialize their knowledge by choosing electives from a variety of finance-related subjects. The program aims to prepare students for entry-level positions in corporate finance, money management, financial advisory, and commercial banking. Successful completion of the certificate requires a minimum 2.0 GPA.
The certificate program consists of 15 units. Nine units are comprised of required courses: Business Finance (FIN 3030), Essential Skills for Finance Professionals (FIN 3250), and Investments (FIN 3320). The remaining six units are elective courses, allowing students to choose from a range of options including: Financial Institutions and Markets (FIN 3310), Personal Portfolio and Risk Management (FIN 3350), Intermediate Business Finance (FIN 4030), Multinational Financial Management (FIN 4310), Cases in Financial Management (FIN 4340), Securities Analysis (FIN 4370), Real Estate Finance (FIN 4390), Futures and Options (FIN 4400), Student Investment Fund (FIN 4470), and Fixed Income Securities, Analysis and Strategies (FIN 4500).
