Course Overview!

Boston College's Master of Science in Leadership program is designed to cultivate self-aware, purpose-driven leaders equipped to navigate the complexities of the 21st century. The curriculum emphasizes Ignatian principles, fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and a commitment to ethical and impactful leadership. Students develop a strong sense of self-awareness, learn to lead change, and create just and purposeful organizations. The program offers two tracks: a Leadership Track for new professionals and an Executive Track for mid-career professionals. Both tracks incorporate core courses and electives, allowing for specialization in areas such as Corporate Communications & Marketing, Human Resources Management, or Project Management. The program is offered in flexible formats including online, on-campus, and hybrid options.

Course Structure

The MS in Leadership program consists of ten courses: six core courses and four electives. The core courses vary slightly depending on which track (Leadership or Executive) a student chooses. Students can then choose a concentration (Corporate Communications & Marketing, Human Resources Management, or Project Management) which dictates their four elective courses, or they can take four free electives from a selection categorized by leadership competencies (Leading Change, Leading People, and Leading Results). Each concentration features four specialized courses; however, students also have the option to not choose a concentration and just select four free electives based on their personal and professional goals.
