Course Overview!

The Slavic Studies major at Boston College offers a comprehensive education on Russia and Eastern European nations, including those formerly part of the Soviet Union. The curriculum provides a broad understanding of the region's history, politics, culture, and languages. Students gain proficiency in at least one Slavic language, explore the rich literary traditions, and delve into the complexities of the region's political and social landscape. Course Structure

The Slavic Studies major requires 30 credits. This includes 6 credits of intermediate-level or higher Slavic language courses (typically two semesters), 3 credits in Introduction to Slavic Peoples and Cultures, 6 credits in Slavic literature (including at least one Russian literature survey course), 6 credits in Slavic history, politics, or linguistics (selected from a department-approved list), and 9 credits of additional courses in Russian and Slavic Studies (also from a department-approved list).
