Ball State University's Accelerated Master's Program (AMP) in Urban and Regional Planning is designed for exceptional undergraduate students. It allows students to begin graduate-level coursework while completing their undergraduate degree, earning dual credit for both programs. Students complete four graduate courses (12 credit hours), with nine hours counting towards both their undergraduate and graduate programs. After finishing undergraduate requirements, they complete an additional year to obtain their master's degree. The program focuses on providing students with a strong foundation in urban planning principles and practices, preparing them for careers in the field.
The AMP program involves completing four graduate-level courses totaling 12 credit hours. Nine of these hours receive dual credit, counting towards both the undergraduate and graduate degrees. Specific courses include PLAN 605 (Design and Graphic Communication), PLAN 606 (Introduction to Urban Planning), PLAN 614 (Quantitative Analysis), and PLAN 630 (Comprehensive Planning Studio). Additional electives like PLAN 512 (Introduction to Geographic Information Systems for Urban Planning) and PLAN 530 (Housing and Community Development) are recommended. Following the undergraduate degree, students spend an additional year completing the remaining MURP program requirements.
