Course Overview!

The Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Women's and Gender Studies at Ball State University offers a comprehensive exploration of gendered experiences, examining how gender intersects with race, class, age, sexuality, and other social categories. The program employs a multidisciplinary approach, equipping students with critical thinking, research, and communication skills. Students learn how gender shapes institutions like governments, schools, and families, developing a gender-sensitive perspective. Course Structure

The Women's and Gender Studies major requires 36 credits of core courses and electives, in addition to the university's core curriculum (33 credits). The remaining credits are fulfilled with general electives (51 credits). The curriculum explores various aspects of gender studies, examining social issues through interdisciplinary lenses. Students develop strong writing skills and are provided opportunities for internships (up to 6 credits) and a capstone experience (WGS 499).
