The 15-credit Graduate Certificate in Literacy Instruction comprises five required courses: EDRD 610: The Teaching of Reading in the Elementary School; EDRD 615: Early Literacy Development or EDRD 620: Disciplinary Literacy & Integrated Instruction; EDRD 624: Integrating Technology in the Literacy Program; EDRD 680: Classroom Reading Diagnosis; and EDRD 685: Advanced Teaching Methods in Language Arts. Each course provides a focused exploration of a key area within literacy instruction. The program may lead to an add-on teaching license in Reading based on fulfilling additional criteria and a license evaluation.
