Course Overview!

The Graduate Certificate in Elementary Mathematics Leadership is a fully online program designed for teachers with elementary, middle school, or special education licenses who aspire to leadership roles in mathematics education. This certificate program enhances mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical skills needed for effective teaching and leadership. The five courses are designed to be immediately applicable in the classroom and can also be applied toward a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (K-12). Course Structure

The Graduate Certificate in Elementary Mathematics Leadership consists of five courses totaling 15 credit hours. Required courses include: MATH 690 Curriculum and Instruction in Mathematics Education, MATH 693 Teaching Mathematics through Problem Solving, and MATH 697 Mathematics Teacher Leadership I. Students must also choose two electives from a list that includes MATH 614 Algebraic Reasoning, MATH 615 Number Concepts and Number Theory, MATH 616 Rational Numbers and Proportional Reasoning, MATH 623 Probability, Data Analysis, and Statistical Reasoning, and MATH 640 Measurement Concepts and Geometric Reasoning. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is necessary to earn the certificate, with no grade lower than a C. Transfer credits are not accepted.
