Course Overview!

Ball State University's Graduate Certificate in Finance is designed for aspiring financial analysts, budget analysts, financial managers, corporate treasurers/controllers, and management consultants. The program provides the analytical and theoretical tools necessary for success in these fields. It's structured to equip students with the knowledge to contribute critically to businesses, governments, non-profits, and financial institutions, opening doors to careers in commercial banking, corporate finance, insurance, private equity, real estate, or financial planning. While beneficial for those with business backgrounds, the program welcomes students from diverse disciplines whether they have a baseline understanding of finance or not, making it accessible to a broader range of professionals seeking to enhance their credentials and marketability. The certificate program also offers 12 credits that can be applied towards an MBA with a concentration in finance.

Course Structure

The Graduate Certificate in Finance requires 12 credit hours and includes the following courses: FIN 650 Investment Management, FIN 680 Global Financial Policy, RMI 670 Risk Management and Insurance, and either BUSA 601 Fundamentals of Accounting and Finance or MBA 661 Managerial Finance. The choice between BUSA 601 and MBA 661 depends on the student's existing undergraduate credits. All courses are delivered online, maintaining the same quality of instruction and interaction as on-campus classes.
