Course Overview!

Ball State University's Property Management program provides a comprehensive business education focused on the real estate industry. Students gain practical experience through hands-on learning, interaction with industry professionals, and involvement in real-world projects like managing the Maplewood Guest House, a medical student community. The curriculum covers marketing, leasing, maintenance, management, accounting, and real estate principles. Graduates are prepared for various roles in property management, possessing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The program's small size fosters a close-knit community, providing students with valuable networking opportunities. The program also prepares students to earn professional credentials like the Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP) and Certified Apartment Manager (CAM).

Course Structure

The Property Management program integrates classroom learning with real-world experience. Students gain experience through a combination of core business courses which are coupled with Property Management specific classes. Core business courses cover foundational aspects of business and management. Property Management specific courses include but aren't limited to: Intro to Property Management, Marketing and Leasing Investment Properties, Profit Management in Property Management, and a Capstone in Property Management. Students also complete an internship to gain practical experience within the field. The program uses a hands on approach to help students take the theory they learn and integrate it successfully into a real world setting. The program partners with local organizations and companies allowing student to build strong relationships and connections.
