Course Overview!

The Executive Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program at Auburn University is a joint offering by the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction and the College of Business. Designed for working professionals with 3-5 years of experience in real estate or related fields, it focuses on best development practices emphasizing sustainability, economic resilience, social responsibility, financial feasibility, and design excellence. The program's structure includes short, intensive on-campus residencies, distance modules, and four-day field trips to significant development projects nationally and internationally. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various disciplines within real estate development, preparing them for leadership roles in the industry.

Course Structure

The MRED program is a 39-credit hour curriculum delivered over five semesters. It combines on-campus residencies with online learning modules, with a cohort-based structure. The curriculum includes core courses covering investment analysis, principles of development, building design, project management, real property analysis, development law, market analysis, site planning, infrastructure development, contract negotiation, capital markets, and a capstone project. The exact sequence of courses is predetermined for each cohort. Students are restricted to the courses offered in their assigned semester, with a variable course load ranging from 5 to 9 credit hours per term.
