Course Overview!

The Certificate in Workplace Intercultural Competence at Auburn University equips students with the skills necessary to thrive in diverse work environments and excel in intercultural communication. The program focuses on developing practical skills and knowledge related to global fluency and awareness, preparing students for international collaborations and diverse workplaces. Students will engage with diverse perspectives and learn to navigate intercultural interactions effectively. The program culminates in a capstone course that integrates the certificate's themes into the student's major field of study, enhancing their career prospects in a globalized world. This certificate enhances students' employability in the modern, interconnected business landscape.

Course Structure

The certificate program requires a minimum of 14 credit hours. It includes a second course in any language sequence (4 hours), Global Fluency and Awareness (FLGC 1150, 3 hours), an approved study abroad experience or international internship (3 hours), Global Fluency for the Workplace (FLGC 3150, 2 hours) which acts as the capstone, and a 3000-level or higher course in the student's major or minor (3 hours). Students who cannot complete a study abroad experience or internship may petition for an alternative upper-level course. A wide range of approved courses is available across different departments, including business, communication, finance, hospitality, and political science, allowing students to tailor their certificate to their career goals.
