Course Overview!

The Master of Science in Cyber Security program at APU equips students with advanced knowledge and skills in cybersecurity, aligning with the demands of Industry 4.0. The program focuses on practical application and hands-on experience, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of cybersecurity. The curriculum includes a wide range of industry-relevant subjects, such as security operations center (SOC) and incident response, security auditing and assessment, advanced ethical hacking, e-investigation, and data analytics in cybersecurity. The program also facilitates professional development, allowing students to specialize through research-based or technical dissertations, thereby graduating as subject matter experts in the field. Strong industry connections and resources, such as access to a fully functional Security Operations Centre and a Cyber Range simulation center, enhance the learning experience.

Course Structure

The program consists of ten coursework modules and a project. Seven core modules are compulsory, covering subjects like information security design, data analytics in cybersecurity, cybersecurity threats, security operations center and incident response, advanced ethical hacking, advanced digital forensics, and research methodology in computing and engineering. Students then choose 3 elective modules from a selection focusing on areas like network design and performance, information security architectures, security audit and assessment, e-investigation, and applied scripting in cybersecurity. The final project involves extensive research on a cybersecurity-related topic, leading to a project paper and potentially a publishable conference or journal article. The program integrates industry-recognized certifications, including RCPT, CHFI, and CSOC, enhancing career prospects.
