(1827) Origins and Establishment
KTH Royal Institute of Technology was founded in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1827 as a technical institute to provide the country with the engineers needed during the new industrial era. It was founded to advance education and research in engineering and applied sciences and to support the technological development of Sweden. During the years that followed, KTH expanded its programs and started researching further, evolving into Sweden's largest and most research-intensive technical university. Today, KTH is recognized globally for its excellence in engineering, technology, innovation, and international education.
